PCA Mission to North America Committee adds new staff member

Written by Staff | Friday, April 13, 2012

Gary Ogrosky, a retired orthodonist now PCA Teaching Elder, is joining the staff as MNA Second Career Director.

Ogrosky will be responsible to do the following:

  • Strengthen and build awareness for this vital ministry.
  • Identify and develop ministry sites, e.g., churches, mission churches, campus ministries, disaster response sites, short term mission sites, etc. that can be strengthened through the volunteer service of individuals and couples who are available and desirous of new opportunities to work and serve.
  • Identify and coach PCA folks who are open to a new career calling where they can exercise their gifts to advance and strengthen the Kingdom.

After a thirty-year career as an orthodontist, Gary felt called by the Lord to pursue a second career in the ministry. He earned his Master of Divinity degree at Reformed Theological Seminary (Orlando) and was ordained in the PCA. His experience in running a professional business, volunteering in the community, mentoring, serving in PCA churches as a lay leader, ruling elder, and teaching elder (Pastor of Seniors and Pastor of Missions at Sycamore Presbyterian in the Richmond VA area), working with youth and seniors, and sitting on mission boards has equipped him to understand the needs of second career volunteers and the churches they will serve.

He has a heart for coming alongside those who are passionate about spreading the Gospel. Gary is a Virginia native and currently lives in the Richmond area. He and his wife Marci were married in 1972 and have two adult children.

MNA stands committed to assisting God’s people in bringing the hope of the Gospel to every community. Gary’s proven abilities coupled with his deep desire to see God’s Kingdom advance through the service of Christian layworkers makes him a logical choice for us when we recognized a need for additional staff in this area. I am thankful for God’s good provision in bringing Gary to our staff. Please pray for Gary and Marci as he undertakes this much needed work.

Gary will be joining MNA in a missionary status and is charged with raising his own support in a similar way as other MNA staff. To know more about this ministry, please navigate to the MNA SecondCareer website at: http://pcamna.org/secondcareer. Ministry coordinators from every church, mission church, campus ministry, or PCA led outreach should prayerfully consider utilizing the growing number of talented new-career seeking folks to strengthen the ministries they oversee. Please contact Gary at [email protected] or at 804-379-1306 to know more
