The PCA’s Reformed University Fellowship Announces Next Coordinator

Reformed University Fellowship has announced that Mr. Andrew Rein has been called to become the next Coordinator for RUF.

Written by RUF Staff | Friday, March 21, 2025

Mr. Rein’s connection to RUF began at Vanderbilt University, where he received a B.S.E. in Mechanical Engineering and graduated summa cum laude with Honors. RUF is where his understanding of the Gospel fell into place and he developed a biblical worldview, realizing faith impacts everything. It is also where he “found his people” — his wife, Holly, and many of their lifelong friends.

We are pleased to announce that Mr. Andrew Rein (RE) has received a unanimous recommendation by the Permanent Committee of Reformed University Fellowship to become the next Coordinator for RUF. Pending the approval of Mr. Rein by the Theological Examining Committee and the 52nd General Assembly in Chattanooga, he will begin his tenure as Coordinator for RUF on July 1, 2025.

Search Committee Chairman, Tobe Hester, who is also a member of RUF’s Permanent Committee shared, “It has been a privilege to serve on the RUF Search Committee and witness firsthand the Lord’s guidance in this process. After months of prayer, discernment, and conversation, I couldn’t be more excited to share that Andrew Rein has been named the next Coordinator for RUF pending GA approval this summer.”

Hester continued, “Andrew is a leader who deeply loves RUF and the students it serves. He not only brings strong leadership and vision, but also a genuine pastoral heart—one that longs to see students know Christ, grow in their faith, and serve the church. His understanding of RUF’s mission, his commitment to all of its staff, and his wisdom in navigating both challenges and opportunities make him the right man for this role. Additionally, his exceptional organizational skills will allow him to lead with clarity and purpose, ensuring that RUF continues to flourish for years to come.”

About Andrew Rein

Mr. Rein brings extensive professional experience and a diverse background to the role of Coordinator. Most recently, he served as Interim Ministry Director of Hilton Head Presbyterian Church (HHPC) where Mr. Rein has been a Ruling Elder for fifteen years. In the Ministry Director role, he led the church and staff through a year-long process of developing a long-term strategic plan that aligns HHPC’s ministry with its mission: to multiply the worship, renewal, and community of Jesus to the people and places of the Lowcountry and through it to the world. HHPC completed the strategic planning process at the end of February, and Mr. Rein now no longer serves on staff, but continues to serve as a member of HHPC’s Governing Commission.

Prior to joining the staff of HHPC, Mr. Rein served in various roles during his 14-year tenure at Hargray, a telecommunications company, including as CFO from 2015 to 2021. Throughout his time at Hargray he was a key member of the executive team that transformed the small, local telephone and cable TV business into a regional internet service provider that was eventually sold to Cable One in 2021.

Before joining Hargray, Mr. Rein was a critical part of a team at Access Spectrum that rationalized spectrum bands (i.e., wireless licenses like the ones used by cellular service providers), including persuading the Federal Communications Commission to repurpose the Upper 700 MHz frequency band to make it more useful for critical infrastructure entities like utilities and railroads.

While Mr. Rein’s professional experience is impressive, it is his pastoral and winsome approach to leadership along with his natural gifting for vision and strategy and his persistent love of RUF over the years that led to the search committee’s enthusiastic recommendation of Mr. Rein for the role of Coordinator.

The Next Chapter for RUF

Permanent Committee Chairman Josh Martin said, “Andrew’s love for the Lord, RUF, and the Church, combined with his personal and professional background, uniquely position him to excel as the next Coordinator for RUF. His proven leadership, strategic vision, and organizational acumen, along with his pastoral heart and dedication to the Gospel, give me great confidence in RUF’s continued growth and impact under his guidance. I’m excited to see how God will use Andrew to further RUF’s mission in the years to come.”

“I am excited for RUF and the Rein family,” said outgoing Coordinator, Will W. Huss, Jr. “Andrew is uniquely gifted for this opportunity and I am confident that he will do well. He loves college students and Jesus’ mission of reaching and equipping them on campus. We have known each other for several years, and connected through our experiences as college students who were significantly impacted by RUF. Andrew has years as a Ruling Elder, a great deal of passion for college ministry, organizational expertise and gravitas, and a love for the Church. I am convinced his heart for this mission will help RUF to wherever the Lord leads us next. God is at work!”

As he looks to the future, Mr. Rein hopes to build on the existing strengths of RUF and enable the ministry to continue growing for years to come. He shared, “I am thrilled to be joining RUF in this role and it is a great privilege to have this opportunity to work alongside the people who have made RUF such a vital ministry. Holly and I are so grateful to RUF for the role it has played in our lives and we look forward to ensuring RUF remains healthy well into the future, for the church, for our children, and the generations to follow.”
