Wild, Unorganized, And Totally Worth It

Whatever God gives us is the blessing.

Written by Jacob Crouch | Sunday, February 15, 2026

These wild, unorganized times in our home are part of that blessing. When God says they are a blessing, they just are. I remember vividly sitting in the car with the man who discipled me. He was holding a baby in one hand while firstborn wailed in the back of his car.

There are some things that you do in life that are hard. They may challenge you physically, mentally, emotionally. But just because things can be hard, it doesn’t mean that they aren’t good. The hard things are often the most rewarding. Putting in a lot of time and effort in order to see a certain outcome can be incredibly satisfying. There are a lot of things like this, but I want to point out just one.

Wild and Unorganized

Family. That’s what I’m talking about. Family can be hard. I am the dad of five (soon to be six) little boys ages 9-2. My wife is currently homeschooling our oldest three and wrangling our younger two while eight months pregnant with our sixth. I’d love to say that because of our excellent parenting our boys are nice and neat and quiet. In reality, our house is wild. It can often be chaotic and unorganized. To say it bluntly, it can be hard.

We do a lot of training, and we make a lot of messes. We have five little egos (and two adult egos) to tend to. We have sin to restrain. We sing and whistle and wrestle and cry. We do paper crafts all hours of the day and night. We read books. Lots of books. This is busy, hard work. And this is not even to mention all the laundry and cooking and cleaning.
