Jesus often withdrew from others to pray, but He and David didn’t take the total escape route every time there was a bad situation. Instead of flying away like a bird, David “flew” as it were to God. He meditated on who God is, how God would help him, and how He would bring him through the horrible circumstances he found himself in.
I think I know how King David felt when he was going through a particularly hard time.
He wrote, “…Oh, that I had wings like a dove! I would fly away and be at rest; yes, I would wander far away …” (Psalm 55:6,7).
Sometimes we just want to escape from where we are.
I’ve done this the wrong way in leaving a job; and even though God cleaned it up, I put myself and others under unnecessary problems and pressures.
