He allows us to go through thousands of experiences to show us the worthlessness of trusting in anything else. We can look to hundreds of other sources. If we are fortunate to have a caring discipler beside us, they will gently take the Scriptures and remind us of the faithfulness of God and the value of a God-oriented life.
So that your trust may be in the LORD, I have taught you today, even you. (Proverbs 22:19)
But there is one purpose. It is not to impress them with your knowledge or to merely drill into them a prescribed set of ritualistic formulas about the Christian life. To proudly or selfishly pull them just to us is to pull them away from the One they need.
