Looking To The Lord

It is easy in our busy world of constant distraction and constant connection to allow our focus to fall from Christ to the problems of this world.

Written by Kyle E. Sims | Tuesday, January 28, 2025

Keep your burdens before the Throne of Grace. Prayer is an essential part of trusting the Lord in difficult times. In prayer, we unburden ourselves from our issues and give them to the Lord. This reminds us that the Lord hears, knows, and acts for us, His people.

Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.– Proverbs 3:5

Why is trusting in the Lord so hard? We can easily trust the Lord when things are going well and we seem to be in control. But when we are going through difficult times and have no control over our lives, it is hard to be still and trust God. Life’s problems, needs, and hurts cause us to spiral downward, looking at the fallen world rather than the risen Christ. At these moments, we are tempted to lean on our understanding rather than trust the Lord.

Trusting the Lord in difficult times is difficult, but we must do it. How can we do this? How can we develop trust in the Lord even in difficult times?

  1. Keep your eyes on the Lord. If we only focus on the problems of our lives and the world, we will be anxious. We must remember who the Lord is in all His strength and power. Reading and memorizing the scriptures help us know the Lord and remember His character and attributes.
