Eastern Shore (PCA), Fairhope, Alabama kicks off Mission Emphasis

Park Cities (PCA), in Dallas, Texas is hosting their Annual Arts Festival. They will have its grand opening this Saturday at 10:00AM. This year’s theme is Manger, Magi, and Majesty.

Members are invited to submit art work of various media to the festival, utilizing one or more of the three key theme foci. Accompanying the artwork must be an ‘Artist’s Statement’.

The Artist Statement must not exceed 100 words in length. It must appropriately address the theme which the work has been entered. This statement is not to be used for biographical purposes, but rather for the inspirational statement of the work.

Acceptable media categories are original, handmade works on canvas, water media on paper, pastels, drawings, fabric, sculpture, photography, and short film. Photography and short film entrants must acknowledge that the work is an original single work created solely by the entrant.

Each entry is judged by experienced jurors. Awards presentation will be held at 11:30AM. The art work will remain on display for a week and are for sale to the public. For more interest, visit: http://pcpc.org/events/608

Christ the King (PCA) in Houston, Texas will be sponsoring a seminar presented by the Academy for Christian Thought – Questions You Should Ask About the Bible on Saturday, November 20, 2010 6:00 PM. The seminar will be led by noted apologist Ron Choong as we discuss the trustworthiness of the Bible. The seminar will go until 9:00PM and will be held in the Redeemer Room at the church. There will be a follow-up seminar on the following Sunday from 11:00 to 12:00AM.

According to the church web site, this seminar represents a critical-evangelical (faith to think things through) response to the claim that the Bible is untrustworthy because it is historically suspect. The seminar will examine several questions Christian ought to feel comfortable asking without being either shouted down by the anxious faithful or despised by the misinformed skeptic.

The speaker will be Ron Choong, an ordained Presbyterian minister (PCA). He has been an apologist in New York with an international ministry of discipleship since 1991. In 2003, he founded the Academy for Christian Thought. He read law, the natural sciences, international relations, the humanities and theology in Malaysia, Great Britain and the USA. His academic training includes the BA (Open), LLB Hons. (London), STM (Yale), MDiv, ThM, & PhD (Princeton). Choong’s doctoral dissertation “Do we sin because we are sinful or are we sinful because we sin: Neuroscience, Nolition and Kenotic Moral Cognition” was awarded magna cum laude. His current research interests include the emergence of intelligence for religious and scientific cognition as well as the implications of consciousness and memory for the moral demands of the “Imago Dei.”

The public is invited to join for an evening in a theological safe space to think things through…theologically. Light refreshments will be provided. RSVP’s are requested to
