Presbyterian and Reformed Joint Commission on Chaplains Position on ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’

Written by Don K. Clements | Saturday, February 6, 2010

Through the standards of its member denominations, the PRJC has consistently promoted the Biblical doctrine that the act of homosexuality is a sin.

The Presbyterian and Reformed Joint Commission and Chaplains and Military Personnel (PRJC) is the six-denomination endorsing Commission for over 200 Reformed federal military and civilian chaplains and chaplain candidates. All PRJC denominations have written records of their stand on this and related issues. The six member denominations include:

The Korean American Presbyterian Church
The Orthodox Presbyterian Church (OPC)
The Presbyterian Church in America (PCA)
The Reformed Presbyterian Church of North America (RPCNA)
The Korean Presbyterian Church in America – affiliate member
United Reformed Churches in North America (URCNA) – affiliate member

Retired Army Chaplain (BGen) Doug Lee, the current Executive Director of the Commission commented on this issue to The Aquila Report:

“The PRJC hopes to have its own policy statement soon on the subject – the aim of which is to aid it’s chaplains as they potentially wrestle with this issue. It is important to note that whatever the issue, PRJC chaplains are endorsed to faithfully represent their denomination. They already have the freedom and encouragement to proclaim Biblical Truth as opportunity arises. It is satisfying to know that PRJC chaplains are boldly proclaiming the Gospel in all its fullness.”
