The North American Presbyterian and Reformed Council, or NAPARC, is celebrating its 50th anniversary on Wednesday evening at Beaver Falls, Pa., where the council was formed decades earlier.
Five denominations comprised the NAPARC’s founding members: the Christian Reformed Church of North America, the Orthodox Presbyterian Church, the Presbyterian Church in America, the Reformed Presbyterian Church Evangelical Synod, and the Reformed Presbyterian Church of North America.
While two of those later united, the NAPARC has now grown to include 13 Reformed and Presbyterian denominations. Wednesday’s event can be watched live here. It is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. EST.
What will celebrations include? The evening will include prayer, a keynote address by Chad Van Dixhoorn of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church, and corporate psalm singing. Psalm singing is a hallmark of Reformed churches, and in recent years, new Psalter Hymnals have resulted from collaborations between NAPARC members.
