PCA Minister David T. Wayne, 51, Called Home to Glory

David Wayne, a member of Chesapeake Presbytery (PCA), passed away Monday, Dec. 1, 2014 after a long bout with lung cancer.

In high school he was the president of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and in college was active with the Baptist Student Union. He moved to Maryland and became the Senior Pastor of Grace Point Presbyterian Church in Severn (formerly Glen Burnie Presbyterian Church) in 2002, where he pastored the members diligently. Well known as the “Jolly Blogger” David was a Christian author in the blogosphere.

 

The Rev. David T. Wayne was born May 2, 1963 in Richmond, Va., to Myrtle Scoggins of Jacksonville, Fla., and the late Julian V. Wayne. He grew up Jacksonville and graduated from the University of Florida, and from Reformed Theological Seminary in Orlando, Fla., in 1995.

In high school he was the president of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and in college was active with the Baptist Student Union. He moved to Maryland and became the Senior Pastor of Grace Point Presbyterian Church in Severn (formerly Glen Burnie Presbyterian Church) in 2002, where he pastored the members diligently. Well known as the “Jolly Blogger” David was a Christian author in the blogosphere.

He was a college football fan, especially his beloved Florida Gators. He was also an avid reader and a published author in The New Media Frontier, Consumer Behavior (a textbook) and Standfirm (a monthly devotional).

David is survived by his wife Lynette E. Wayne (nee Duncan);\, and  children David T. “DJ” Wayne of California, Michael J. and Rebekah J. Wayne of Glen Burnie. He is also survived by half-brothers Bruce Wayne of Jacksonville, Fla., Jerry Wayne of Toller, Texas, and half sister Sharon Wayne of Richmond, Va.

David was living in Richmond, Virginia at the time of his death. Memorial donations may be made to: Deacon’s Fund at Grace Point Presbyterian Church, 615 Donaldson Ave., Severn, MD 21144.
