Evangelical Presbyterian Church Moderator, Ruling Elder Rob Liddon, Receives Boy Scout Award

Written by EPCNews | Saturday, November 6, 2010

Rob Liddon, a member of Second Presbyterian Church (EPC) of Memphis, Tennessee recieved a special honor alongside Memphis Mayor A C Wharton presented by the Chickasaw Council, Boy Scouts of America.

Both men received the Whiteney M. Young Jr. Service Award, an award presented to individuals who help provide and support scouting opportunities for disadvantaged youth within our local church.

Liddon considers scouting a ministry and has served in a variety of leadership positions through Second’s scouting groups, including serving as an active board member and advocate for Scoutreach programs in the Memphis community.

Most recently, he has served as leader of Troop 33, one of the most diverse and deserving groups in the organization.

Dick Cowan, Second Presbyterian Elder and Liddon’s steering committee chairman for this award, shares, “Rob is a guy with lots of ideas and an energy level that is hard to equal. He uses this energy to create and implement these ideas into programs for helping those needing encouragement, support, and direction in life.

“His vision for a Boy Scout Troop in the Berclair neighborhood became a reality after many months of planning and recruiting both leaders and boys,” Cowan continues. “This scouting program teaches young men leadership skills, a love for the outdoors, and has opened many doors for helping these young men strengthen their relationships with God.

“Rob continues to use his energy, his many talents, and visionary ideas, along with his love for God, to spread the Gospel to young men in our city. We are truly blessed to have Rob as a part of our 2PC family.”
