EPC Pastor Eddie (Ed) Gene Davis, 58, Dies Unexpectedly

Written by Staff | Sunday, February 7, 2010

Davis was pastor of Christ Fellowship Church of Fort Collins. Services will be held at 6 p.m., Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at Timberline Church, 2908 Timberline Road.

Ed was born April 3, 1953 in Camp Gordon, Ga. He lived with his family in Haswell, Colorado until the age of 9. He then lived in the Timber Lake community in South Dakota, where he learned to drive a tractor, starred in football, basketball, and track and was a top student. In the middle of his junior year in high school he moved to Fort Collins, Colo.

He attended Poudre High School and met the love of his life, Donna (Shields) Davis. They were married July 12, 1975 in Fort Collins before moving to Texas where Ed received his BA in music education from TCU. They then moved to Denver where Ed received his Master of Divinity at Denver Seminary.

After joining the Evangelical Presbyterian Church denomination he helped start Cherry Creek Presbyterian in Denver. In 1982 Ed and Donna moved back to Fort Collins and started what is now Christ Fellowship Church. In nearly 30 years of Ministry he has taught, counseled, baptized, and married thousands. He loved and served his denomination by traveling, teaching, supporting and leading committees.

Championing missions work, he was involved in Mexico, Guatemala, Africa and here at home. A leader in the Fort Collins Church Network, he had a passion for this city and its churches. He was an outstanding husband, an exemplary father, a leader of many, pastor to pastors, loyal friend, coach, loving son, caring brother and teacher. Ed enjoyed playing, coaching and watching sports with his sons. He enjoyed time with his daughter, daughter-in-laws and grand-daughters.

To the chagrin of his kids he was unafraid to talk to anyone, and would often strike up conversations with complete strangers and he had a great sense of humor. He had a passion for growing and learning. Some of his favorite times in his life were fishing trips with his dad, brothers and family. Ed’s heart overflowed with love for his family, his church family and his Lord, Jesus Christ and he looked forward to this day, when he would walk the streets of heaven. He is survived by his wife Donna, his two sons Jeremy and Grant, his daughter Amy, his daughter-in-laws Jill and Jennifer, his grand-daughters Kyla, Madelyn, and Kennedy.

He is also survived by his parents, Herbert and Wanda, his brother, Maynard, and his wife, Robin, a brother, Barry, his sister Nancy and brother-in-law Mark, father-in-law, Robert and his wife, Wendy, many special nieces, nephews, and extended family.
