Military Chaplains: To Have a Strong Army, We Need Strong Families

Written by Jeff Schapiro, Christian Post | Saturday, June 2, 2012

A typical Navy CREDO marriage retreat involves about 20 couples who spend about two days in a hotel or camp setting. As spouses talk to one another and develop their marriage skills, facilitators are also on hand to help them work through any problems that might come up during their discussion.

The Local Church and Evangelism – A Dynamic Church (Part 4 of 6)

Written by Erroll Hulse | Saturday, June 2, 2012

In the New Testament we see all the preaching coming from the Church as expressed in the local churches whether at Antioch, Corinth, Ephesus or elsewhere. All converts were added to the churches. All preachers were subject to the discipline of the churches and, if travelling abroad, were sent out by one church or another

Observations on RUF at a southern campus…by an Alabama RUFer.

Written by Nathan Miklovic | Thursday, May 31, 2012

One assistant pastor…noticed a contrast between the RUF’s and the other campus ministries…. His observation, which I wholeheartedly agree with, is that a “subculture of license” seems to accompany RUF. This especially manifests itself in the topics of conversation and language used. Students in RUF do not give a second thought to using crude language and crude jokes.

SBC’s Shorter University affirms new direction as faculty resign – by Joe Westbury

Written by Joe Westbury, Christian Index | Thursday, May 31, 2012

"We have long known that some faculty and staff do not agree with the steps Shorter is taking to bring the university back to its Christian roots." But, he added, "We want to employ faculty and staff that represent the biblical values at the core of Shorter University and that can serve as positive role models for our students.

The Local Church and Evangelism – A dynamic theology (Part 3 of 6) – by Erroll Hulse

Written by Erroll Hulse | Wednesday, May 30, 2012

Two heresies in particular destroy the Gospel as far as its evangelistic thrust is concerned. One is hyper-Calvinism in which the free offers of the Gospel are denied and in which an excuse is made of the fact that men are dead in sin and therefore there is no point in evangelizing. The other heresy which destroys true evangelism is decisionism.

Evangelism Defined (Part 2 of 6)

Written by Erroll Hulse | Sunday, May 27, 2012

When we define evangelism we include comprehensiveness as well as contact. To have a five minute chat about the Gospel with every creature in the world is not to evangelize the world. That is contact alone. That is an introduction and such is valuable indeed, but evangelism is much more than that. Evangelism is comprehensive.

"Anywhere they see any restrictive anything they want to strike that out, but that is an absolutely necessary component of the exercise of free speech." -- ADF attorney

Emergent Christians Warn against the Bible’s “Loaded Guns”

Written by Barton Gingerich | Friday, May 25, 2012

Their discussion eventually addressed Christ’s atonement. Almeda Wright, professor of Religion and Youth Ministry at Pfeiffer University, confessed a worry about “a Gospel narrative of redemptive suffering…I have a problem with redemptive suffering.”

Biola University Clarifies Stance on Human Sexuality

Written by Angela Lu , WNS | Wednesday, May 23, 2012

But for those who blatantly disagree with the school's theological view and act against its policy, "we will live in a state of tension," Grace said. If they persist, even after conversations with the faculty, the students will be violating their signed contract. In that case, Grace tells them: "This isn't the place for you."
