It’s Time for an Electronic PCA General Assembly

An Electronic General Assembly would be live-streamed via the Internet with some commissioners present and others in their home location.

Written by Larry Ball | Thursday, September 6, 2018

What is an Electronic General Assembly?  Since the Assembly is presently live-streamed via the Internet, I think our high-tech people could develop something I call a Distance Voting Commissioner (DVC).  Legitimate representatives not present from a PCA church would be able to read reports from Committees and listen to the debates online.  Then, at the... PCA Foundation President Announces Retirement

PCA Foundation President, Randy Stair, has informed the board of directors of the PCA Foundation of his intent to retire from his current role as of June 30, 2019.

Written by PCA Foundation | Tuesday, August 14, 2018

Randy Stair has served as President of the PCA Foundation since 1998. During his 21 years of leadership, the amount of donations to the Foundation has been over $205 million, the amount of grant distributions to ministry over $145 million and total assets have grown from $17 million to over $91 million. The staff and... Continue Reading

Should the PCUSA Open an “Office of Condemnation”?

A critique of the Overture 7-1 approved by the 2018 PCUSA GA dealing with so called hate crimes.

Written by Mateen Elass | Thursday, July 26, 2018

I suspect the 223rd General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church USA was engaged in politically correct self-preening when it passed this feel-good motion inviting arm-chair condemnation of those “hate crimes” identified by the progressive world. Enough to justify its self-righteous perch as the moral arbiter of all things, but not enough to truly engage the... Continue Reading

The Preliminary Principles in the PCA Book of Church Order

The Preliminary principles are generally recognized as having been authored by the Rev. John Witherspoon.

Written by Wayne Sparkman | Sunday, July 22, 2018

“Since the 16th Century Protestant Reformation, there have been numerous Reformed denominations with varying forms of church polity — some more hierarchical and others more democratic. These eight principles were originally adopted by the first American General Assembly in 1789. Our American Presbyterian forefathers had come to America with fresh memories of the persecutions under... Continue Reading

Actions of the 46th General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church in America

A report of the 46th PCA General Assembly held June 13-15 in Atlanta from the Stated Clerk.

Written by L. Roy Taylor | Wednesday, July 11, 2018

As the 2017 Assembly was historic in electing RE Dr. Alexander Jun as the first Korean-American Moderator of the General Assembly, the 2018 Assembly was historic in unanimously electing Rev. Dr. Irwin Ince as the first African-American Moderator…. Dr. Ince moderated the 2018 General Assembly with the efficiency of an engineer, the wisdom of a... Continue Reading

United Reformed Churches of North America to Reformed Churches of the Netherlands: Farewell

The URCNA voted to end fraternal relations [“ecumenical contact”] with the Reformed Churches of the Netherlands over the RCN’s decision to ordain women to all church offices.

Written by Wes Bredenhof | Monday, July 9, 2018

The Dutch media reported that the RCN had examined its first woman at a classis for preaching consent.  Gerry Bos was examined by Classis Hattem and is now able to preach in the churches.  Even before Synod Meppel, however, one RCN church had already allowed a woman to take the pulpit as part of her... No Solus Christus for the PCUSA!

“Christ alone” is no longer a part of the “gospel message” of the PCUSA; universalism is now the center.

Written by Mateen Elass | Friday, June 22, 2018

Reading this prayer carefully, one discovers that faith in Jesus Christ is just one of many diverse faiths on earth, all of which are good. God’s gift of grace is not linked uniquely to the work of Christ opening up salvation for all the world, but rather only one way of coming to God. Apparently... Continue Reading

Reflections from Inside the Overtures Committee at the 46th PCA General Assembly

Or, how the proposed amendment to BCO 59, the Marriage Chapter, at the PCA GA was finally drafted and approved.

Written by Jared Nelson | Thursday, June 21, 2018

The PCA General Assembly voted to propose that BCO 59-3 be given constitutional authority and amended it to read: “Marriage is only to be between one man and one woman (Gen. 2:24-25; Matt. 19:4-6; 1 Cor. 7:2), in accordance with the Word of God. Therefore ministers in the Presbyterian Church in America who solemnize marriages... Continue Reading

Presbyterian Church USA Poised to Condemn Islam, Muhammad and the Qur’an….

The PC sounding overture, Item 07-01, would mandate that the PCUSA would have to condemn Islam as a religion and its “holy book”, the Qur’an

Written by Mateen Elass | Thursday, June 21, 2018

After leaning long and hard toward a gospel-denying universalism, the PCUSA seems poised now to condemn the religious teachings of a rival faith. To be fair, it has to be said that this unintended exclusivistic drift is not being nourished by a true belief in the gospel but by a mindless pursuit of “progressive justice,”... Continue Reading

The Westminster Society and the EPC General Assembly

The Westminster Society is a relatively new networking group within the Evangelical Presbyterian Church.

Written by Matthew Everhard | Monday, June 18, 2018

The Society aims to provide annual networking lunch opportunities at our General Assemblies for our members and visitors to gather around productive, in-depth theological conversations. More importantly, we hope to deepen friendships and foster professional collegiality among our ministers and ruling elders. Additionally, we seek to advocate for a strong view of the implementation and... Continue Reading
