PCA Foundation President Announces Retirement

PCA Foundation President, Randy Stair, has informed the board of directors of the PCA Foundation of his intent to retire from his current role as of June 30, 2019.

Written by PCA Foundation | Tuesday, August 14, 2018

Randy Stair has served as President of the PCA Foundation since 1998. During his 21 years of leadership, the amount of donations to the Foundation has been over $205 million, the amount of grant distributions to ministry over $145 million and total assets have grown from $17 million to over $91 million. The staff and operations have grown as well to facilitate the increasing volume of donations from generous Christians and distributions to PCA churches and Christian ministries.

PCA Foundation President, Randy Stair, has informed the board of directors of the PCA Foundation of his intent to retire from his current role as of June 30, 2019. This news was received by the board of directors at their recent meeting with profound appreciation for Randy’s service and tenure as president.

According to Willis Frazer, chairman of the board, “It is difficult to think of the PCA Foundation without thinking of Randy Stair. He took over when the Foundation was small and fragile. To say he leaves it in a position of strength doesn’t do justice in describing his tenure. He has led the Foundation through an amazing period of growth including weathering the Great Recession of 2008. Whoever serves as our next president will enjoy the benefits of Randy’s leadership for years to come.”

Prior to serving the Foundation, Randy served as Chief Financial Officer for Park Communications, Inc. where he was an integral part of the development and growth of the television, radio and newspaper media conglomerate. In addition to his service at the Foundation, Randy is a longtime member and an active ruling elder at ChristChurch Presbyterian in Atlanta. His wife Kathy serves as a women’s ministry trainer with the PCA’s Committee on Discipleship Ministries and as an advisory member on its permanent committee.

“The PCA Foundation’s board established a five-year plan in 2015 to position the Foundation for its next generation of growth. I feel the goals have largely been realized and it’s a perfect time to transition the leadership. We have an excellent senior and support staff to serve our donors. We have rebranded and launched a marketing initiative that has increased awareness of our services within the denomination. Even more, we are on target to reach $100 million in assets under management by 2021. The board has always been supportive of me. I can’t think of a better time for a new president to be selected and lead the Foundation into its next era of growth,” according to Stair.

He adds, “My wife Kathy and I had been involved in the PCA as part of a successful church planting effort in Ithaca, NY, and subsequently were both actively involved with a PCA church in Lexington, KY. When I was presented with the opportunity to lead the Foundation, God made it clear it was an obvious way to merge my financial expertise with my faith for the good of God’s Kingdom and the denomination. The board is filled with wise and godly men who I know will choose a capable person to lead the Foundation into its next season of growth.”

The board of directors has formed a search committee to select a candidate to serve as the next president of the PCA Foundation. Randy Stair will continue to serve in his role as president until his successor is in place.
