What’s Wrong with Theistic Evolution? – by Kevin DeYoung

Written by Kevin DeYoung, TGC | Monday, June 4, 2012

How can we uphold the special dignity and majesty the Bible accords human beings when we are only qualitatively different from other life forms and continuous with the rest of the animal world? How can God impute sin and guilt to all humans along the lines of federal headship when some of us have no physical connection with Adam?

Erskine Professor Bill Evans Responds: Trustee John Basie Has a Point

Written by William B. Evans | Monday, June 4, 2012

…let us rejoice in Dr. Norman's transparent articulation of his views, which has afforded us this opportunity to explore important matters, and let us strive to be both faithful and rigorous in our analysis, all with the goal of glorifying God and edifying the Church.

The Seduction of Pornography and the Integrity of Christian Marriage, Part Two – by Albert Mohler

Written by Albert Mohler | Monday, June 4, 2012

Perhaps specificity will help to illustrate this point. I am confident that God’s glory is seen in the fact that a married man, faithful to his wife, who loves her genuinely, will wake up in the morning driven by ambition and passion in order to make his wife proud, confident, and assured in her devotion to her husband.

The Changing Role Of North American Seminaries In Global Theological Education – by Don Sweeting

Plenary Address at the Lausanne Consultation on Global Theological Education in the Twenty First Century, May 29-June 1, 2012 in Boston

Written by Don Sweeting | Monday, June 4, 2012

So here is the strange situation we find ourselves in–we have more seminaries and fewer students. All the while, in many parts of the world, there are more students who want theological training, but there are fewer seminaries. This is the elephant in the room that no one likes talking about. As we’ve heard this week, there are many nations where the vast majority of its pastors have no formal Biblical and theological training. This is an urgent matter.

The Church Drinking Problem – Intinction, Wine, and Communion – by William H. Smith

Written by William H. Smith | Monday, June 4, 2012

Here’s another question: Does anyone think that either our Lord or the Apostle had in mind anything like receiving the wine, or more likely the juice, via one of those little individual plastic cups?

Chicken jokes for theologians – by Kevin Jackson and many of his friends

Written by Staff | Monday, June 4, 2012

Michael Horton: The chicken was forsaking the kingdom of this world to live solely in the Kingdom of Christ. John Frame: The chicken had an existential need to change its situation according to a new norm.   The answer to this question is obviously related to your theological-philosophical-ontological positions. Why Did the Chicken Cross the... Continue Reading

Andy Stanley 30 times bigger than Lady Gaga; Twitter executive seeks growth with more religious leaders – by Amy O’Leary

Written by Amy O'Leary, NYTimes | Sunday, June 3, 2012

The advice that Ms. Díaz-Ortiz [the Twitter executive] offers is simple. “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you,” she said, pausing to add, “on Twitter.”

Erskine College Board Member Supports President Norman’s Views on the ‘Soul After Death’

Written by John Basie | Sunday, June 3, 2012

The point here is to say that there is freedom of inquiry at a Christian liberal arts institution in the Reformed tradition, so long as we take seriously the commitment that our views remain within the boundaries of biblical inerrancy and are built on the framework of all truth being God's truth

Critics call for Southern Baptist ethicist Richard Land to resign – by Bob Smietana

Written by Bob Smietana, The Tennessean | Sunday, June 3, 2012

Aaron Douglas Weaver, the blogger who uncovered Richard Land’s on-air plagiarism, said that the Baptist ethicist got off easy with today’s reprimand…[He] said that trustees were wrong when they said the plagiarism was a result of “carelessness and poor judgment. He wasn’t being careless. This was intentional.”

Ordination still a hot topic at PCUSA General Assembly – by James D. Berkley

Written by James D. Berkley, The Layman | Sunday, June 3, 2012

Other business items deal with speeding up the call process (7-19), returning to minister and elder terminology (7-04), reassessing the effectiveness of ordination exams (7-07), clarifying that candidates for ministry must be examined (7-20), giving United Methodist Church clergy blanket approval to officiate at the Lord’s Table (7-15)…
