Three Lessons from the Decline of Mainstream Protestantism

What are evangelicals to make of the developments from the mainline denominations?

Written by Timnothy George | Sunday, July 22, 2012

While the intention may be worthy, the results are likely to be disastrous: a social Gospel that is all social and no Gospel; a church which has nothing to say that secular elites have not already said, and usually said better; a horizontal faith with a penchant for the instantaneous and the disconnected but with... Exposure to Sexual Content in Movies Predicts Sexual Behavior in Adolescence

A new study links exposure to sexual content in movies at an early age to adolescents' sexual behavior

Written by Jim Liebelt | Sunday, July 22, 2012

Why do movies have these effects on adolescents? These researchers examined the role of a personality trait known as sensation-seeking. One of the great dangers of adolescence, is the predisposition for “sensation seeking” behavior. Between the ages of 10 and 15, the tendency to seek more novel and intense stimulation of all kinds peaks. A... Continue Reading

Thou Shalt Not Put Evolutionary Theory to a Test

Evolutionists credit remarkable things to an unguided material process, a process that has significant limitations

Written by Douglas Axe | Sunday, July 22, 2012

My challenge to everyone else believes the evolutionary story of human origins, is not to provide the list of mutations that did the trick, but rather a list of mutations that can do it. Otherwise they’re in the position of insisting that something is a scientific fact without having the faintest idea how it even... Continue Reading

Baur vs. Bauer: Is the New Testament Really Filled with Contradictory Theologies?

Two criticisms of the New Testament that have been used for years that upon closer examination prove to be largely incompatible with one another

Written by Michael Kruger | Sunday, July 22, 2012

There is another explanation for the canon’s theological unity that does not entail appeals to early church conspiracies, namely that these books all have the same ultimate, divine author. But, it is unlikely that modern enlightenment scholarship will ever let that idea on the table. Perhaps no book in the history of the world has... Continue Reading

Insider Movement Report

What are the guidelines for translating words related to Christ’s Sonship?

Written by Jason Helopoulos | Sunday, July 22, 2012

To change or substitute non-familial or social familial terms with the common biological terms in Scripture is to move in a direction contrary to Scriptural intent. The Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) erected a study committee to examine the Insider Movement in foreign missions and Bible translation. This movement has sought to use language that... ‘Gay pride’ parade is no place for Military service members in uniform

Secretary of Defense Panetta violates his own Department of Defense instructions

Written by Ron Crews | Saturday, July 21, 2012

“I cannot imagine moms and dads wanting their children to be part of a military that pushes the homosexual agenda at every turn”

Gay Is Not the New Black

There has always been, and, by necessity, will always be discrimination in marriage laws.

Written by Voddie Baucham, TGC | Saturday, July 21, 2012

Perhaps the most damning aspect of the civil rights argument is logical unsustainability. If sexual orientation/identity is the basis for (1) classification as a minority group, and (2) legal grounds for the redefinition of marriage, then what's to stop the "bisexual" from fighting for the ability to marry a man and a woman simultaneously since his "orientation" is, by definition, directed toward both sexes? What about the member of NAMBLA whose orientation is toward young boys? Where do we stop, and on what basis?

Philip Ryken on Wheaton’s Contraception Mandate Lawsuit: ‘A Last Resort’

The college president explains why it's is suing, and why now.

Written by Sarah Pulliam Bailey, Christianity Today | Saturday, July 21, 2012

I think most Americans have not considered seriously the religious liberty issue that’s at stake. So part of our interest in filing alongside a Roman Catholic institution is to help the American public see that this is a fundamental religious liberty issue and not, for example, merely an issue over contraception.

Northeast U.S. United Methodists Vow Pro-LGBT Defiance

Evangelicals Pledge Fidelity to Church

Written by Mark Tooley | Saturday, July 21, 2012

Despite the NEJ vote defying the church on sexual ethics, one of its three newly elected bishops is a graduate of Asbury Seminary and considered evangelical. Rev. Mark Webb of York, PA, was elected after a prolonged gridlock that culminated with 35 ballots.

Profile of an Abuser

Be careful who you leave your children with.

Written by Steve Cornell, TGC | Saturday, July 21, 2012

Because abusers prey on vulnerable people, victims often enable their abusers by making excuses for their behavior. If you're doing this, please break free from the deception and recognize that it is neither loving nor wise to allow yourself to remain in an abusive relationship. Insist on getting help whether your abuser is willing to or not.
