Where Is God Calling You to Trust Him?
Everything in life is designed to bring us back to dependency upon the Father.
Where is God calling you to trust Him now? What is the classroom of opportunity He is offering to you, calling you to “stand still and see the salvation of the Lord?” What is He telling you to give or a place where you are to rest and let Him provide so things can be... Continue Reading
Was Jesus’ Resurrection Physical or Spiritual?
Paul presents a robust doctrine of bodily resurrection.
The resurrection Paul proclaims in 1 Corinthians 15 is not the mere transferal to an ethereal or spiritual state….The resurrection Paul proclaims in this chapter is the conquest of bodily death. It is the final triumph of God. In the canonical gospels, as virtually all scholars concur, the resurrection of Christ, and the hope... Continue Reading
On the Far Side of Obedience
God loves to bless obedience and loves to reward conformity to his Word.
As we obey God, he will continue to lavish his gifts of grace upon us. For there is always blessing on the far side of obedience. “Blessed…are those who hear the word of God and keep it!” (Luke 11:28) To be human is to be finite—to be limited in our knowledge of past, present,... Continue Reading
Lords Seek to Prevent Abortion up to Birth Becoming Law
Earlier this year the House of Commons voted in favour of removing all legal sanctions to carrying out an abortion after the 20-week limit.
As well as removing the amendment removing legal sanctions, peers are also looking at reintroducing the requirement that those seeking an abortion receive an in-person consultation with a medical professional. Members of the House of Lords are seeking to prevent the imposition of an extreme abortion regime in England and Wales. Earlier this year... Continue Reading
Why Can’t an Unbeliever’s Good Works Please God?
Good works done outside of Christ are pure presumption.
The problem with our religious good works is that we are attempting to “serve God” or “do good things” without being in a right relationship with God and without understanding how He wants to be served. Our good works are pure presumption and cannot be the means by which we are reconciled to God. ... Continue Reading
2 Little Words That Have 5 Big Effects on Your New Life
By God’s sovereign redemptive purpose, we were united to Christ before we took our first breaths.
The doctrines of justification and union with Christ are the best pieces of news sinners in this sin-scarred world could ever hear. What we never could have dreamed has become ours. And what we have no capacity to earn is now ours in Christ. The Need for Sacrifice I spent one year in my... Continue Reading
Orthodox Anglicans Create New Communion That Rejects Leadership of Archbishop of Canterbury
The Gafcon movement of orthodox Anglicans said its intention was to "reorder" the Anglican Communion with only the Bible as its foundation.
The announcement follows the appointment of Sarah Mullally as the first female Archbishop of Canterbury. Gafcon was one of the first to denounce her appointment on 3 October, calling on Mullally to repent for her support of same-sex blessings. The Gafcon movement of orthodox Anglicans is forging its own path away from the leadership... Continue Reading
A Long-Awaited Future
The primacy of the Archbishop of Canterbury in the Anglican Communion is at an end.
The so-called instruments of unity, which have in reality proven to be instruments of doctrinal deviation and division, are no longer recognised. The Communion is now reset (not replaced but reset) as the Global Anglican Communion and we are looking forward to a new era of evangelism, mission, growing mature and Christ-like churches, and a... Geerhardus Vos’s Biblical Theology: Four Features, Four Insights, Four Errors (Part 2)
Rediscovering the glory of Scripture, God’s progressive revelation of Himself, with Vos as guide.
Vos’s insights concerning Biblical Theology are numerous and influential….[Vos’s] insights should significantly prompt Evangelicals to recognize that the work of the biblical theologian is to replicate as accurately as possible God’s progressive revelation of Himself in harmony with His redemptive deeds, as portrayed for us in the Bible’s storyline from Genesis to Revelation. Many... Continue Reading
Putting the Authority Back in the Gospel
Jesus didn’t merely offer eternal life when He called people to salvation. He also was very blunt about the consequences of rejecting that message.
The Bible is explicit regarding the desperate consequences of sin, the reality of eternal punishment, the urgency of the gospel, and God’s command for people to place their dependence on the finished work of Christ for forgiveness of their sin and restoration to God. I sat across the table from a young man with... Continue Reading
