Administrative Committee Nominates Fred Greco for PCA Stated Clerk

The 53rd PCA General Assembly will consider Greco’s nomination to serve as stated clerk when it convenes in Louisville on June 22-26, 2026.

Written by Andy Jones | Monday, January 12, 2026

Greco currently serves as senior pastor of Christ Church in Katy, Texas. He grew up near Buffalo, New York, and studied Classics and history at the University of Buffalo, after which he completed a master’s degree in Classics at the University of Chicago. After earning his law degree at the University of Michigan Law School, he served as a corporate attorney in Cleveland, Ohio.

At a called meeting last week, the PCA Administrative Committee nominated Teaching Elder Fred Greco to serve as the denomination’s next stated clerk. Pending approval by the 53rd General Assembly at its June meeting in Louisville, Kentucky, Greco will serve as the fifth stated clerk in the PCA’s history.

The AC formed an eight-member search committee in August, consisting of four ruling elders and four teaching elders, who concluded their work with Greco’s unanimous nomination. The search process arrived at its nominee using a rigorous four-phase process, which started with inviting input from almost 450 church leaders across the denomination, including the AC staff, and sorting through more than 200 responses.

“The search committee applied a highly stringent process to prioritize among key traits the qualities that are most critical to the role,” said Frank Cohee, ruling elder and chairman of the search committee. “Teaching Elder Greco ideally embodied those traits shown through his previous denominational service, ministry background, interviews, and discussions. Most important to me, however, was his constant desire to approach the position humbly with the primary goal of serving Christ’s church and glorifying the Lord in this work.”

While living in the Cleveland area, his family worshiped at Grace Presbyterian Church in Hudson, where he served as a ruling elder.

Sensing a call to ministry, he moved his family to Jackson, Mississippi, and earned a degree from Reformed Theological Seminary. Upon graduation, he accepted the call to serve at Christ Church in Texas. Greco has served in various roles at the presbytery and denominational level, including multiple terms as chairman of the Standing Judicial Commission. He was also elected to serve as the moderator of the 50th General Assembly in Memphis.
