How will we recognize this King? With much pomp and circumstance? Leading a mighty army? He will come “lowly and riding on a donkey, a colt, the foal of a donkey” (Zech. 9:9).Each of the Gospel account carries news of His arrival. Seated on a donkey, palm branches spread before Him, He would enter Jerusalem to shouts.
“Behold, your King is coming to you.” (Zech. 9:9, NKJV)
The invitations have been printed and addressed. “’Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion! For behold, I am coming and I will dwell in your midst,’ says the LORD. “Many nations shall be joined to the LORD in that day, and they shall become My people. And I will dwell in your midst” (Zech. 2:10-11).
What is the cause for celebration? What occasion can prompt such joyous uproar? “Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your King is coming to you; He is just and having salvation… He shall speak peace to the nations; His dominion shall be ‘from sea to sea, and from the River to the ends of the earth.’” (Zech. 9:9–10).
