The religious beliefs of the original founders about the nature of reality determined the political and legal structures they created. Now, a different kind of spirituality seeks to change those documents to correspond with its very different “religious” view of reality.

Marxists state that “everything is political.” While incorrectly emphasizing the political, they rightly see that everything in human experience is related in some way to everything else.

The implications of this logic are becoming obvious in the contemporary United States.

Classic constitutionalism explicitly affirms that rights do not come from government but from man’s Creator. The Declaration of Independence gives the spirit in which the Constitution is to be understood: “…all men are created equal; that they are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights…”

Contemporary conservatism, based on this “founding” thinking, while far from understanding the true nature of Christianity and the personal nature of God as Redeemer, does understand some elements of the “two-istic” character of the universe when it affirms a timeless transcendent moral order to which society must try to conform.

Fyodor Dostoyevsky (1821–81), the Russian novelist and philosopher, saw the importance of God for the preservation of livable, humane existence: “If there is no God,” he noted, “all things are permissible.” Contemporary progressive spirituality, which worships the “god within,” will inevitably produce conditions in which “might makes right.” If Nature is god, and Man is god, then the State is god, and Caesar is Lord.

Contemporary One-ists realize the two-ist nature of the founding documents, so they must alter the Constitution by first altering people’s perception about the nature of reality.

Since the Sixties, Western intellectuals, rejecting the Father/Creator of Judeo-Christian culture (referenced in the Founding documents) have been going East to discover “the god within.” They also found a soul brother in the Western liberation of sexuality and gender. This East/West mix has become the orthodoxy of today’s ruling elite—evolutionary human perfectibility via pan-sexualism, interfaith religion, feminist egalitarianism, and personal mysticism. Needless to say, this vision is radically changing the institutions dear to the Founders—the family, the military, education and constitutional theory.

The Family: We are now asked to support all kinds of family structures, including a family made up of two homosexual fathers, commended by the President in his recent Father’s Day speech. But, whatever the structure, studies now show that parents are less happy than non-parents. In the absence of discipline and authority structures (due, in part, to the modern feministic demonization of the patriarchal God), adults spend their time in argumentative “negotiating” with their headstrong children. Modern parenting is no fun.

The Military: The House has passed a bill repealing “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell,” legislation which may eventually produce (as the last resort of political force—the sword) for the moral good of society, an unrecognizable pansexual, cross-dressing military.

The Academy: The dumbing-down of education is a well-documented fact, especially as it concerns the study of American history. (One can graduate from most universities without taking a course in American history.) Multi-culturalists have replaced the teaching of history with classes on “Native American Feminism” (University of Michigan), “The Adultery Novel” (University of Pennsylvania), and even “Pornography,” “The Marxist Examinations of Family,” and “Feminist Analysis of the Construction of Gender.”

The results are obvious, after a generation of intentional neglect. Jay Leno asked a college instructor to identify the year America gained its independence. She replied “1922.” Only 49 percent of Americans can name the three branches of government, and only 46 percent of college seniors know that the line, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights” is in the Declaration of Independence. Little wonder the progressive elite are upbeat that they can change the Constitution.

Political Theory—Ken Wilber, a leading spokesman of “integral spirituality” believes humanity is on the cusp of undergoing deep mystical transformation. He is enthusiastically read by Bill Clinton, Al Gore, Tony Blair, George Bush, Jeb Bush, Gerhard Schroeder, Deepak Chopra, Rob Bell and Brian McLaren. His “integral paradigm” is used at the Devos World Economic Forum, as well as at the UN and at UNICEF. The goal of this movement is staggering: “the US Constitution was the culmination of first-tier (non-mystical, Two-ist) governance philosophy…what the world now needs is the first genuinely second-tier (One-ist or ”non-dual”) form of political philosophy…we are awaiting the new global founding Fathers and Mothers who will frame an integral system of governance.” For the progressive globalist new Left, ‘‘Another U.S. is necessary.” You have been warned!

Establishing a just two-ist society will not get you to heaven, but it may well be part of the law that brings you to Christ.
