Why does the media freak whenever religion is mentioned?

Written by Andy Hefty | Saturday, January 9, 2010

And just what’s wrong with religion? I’ll echo what I believe many American’s are saying: Perhaps Tiger Woods does need a dose of “the old-time Religion,” as the song says. Brit Hume suggested recently that Woods, embroiled in countless adulterous scandals, would be redeemed if he converted to Christianity.

It amazes me that the minute details of sexual escapades – of a golfer, for crying out loud – can be discussed ad nauseum for weeks. Experts from around the world are piped in to provide up-to-the-minute analysis of who, when, with whom, and whether any little blue pills were taken to make things more interesting.

But let one respected journalist provide his opinion that a conversion of heart, life and soul may be in order for someone who is clearly self-destructing, and you would think that Armageddon is taking place.
OK, so Hume works for Fox News.

So what? So his show is supposed to be news. Again, so what? As soon as you “analyze” the news, you are no longer presenting hard facts. Analysis is part news and part opinion. Of course! Once more, so what? Don’t tell me that Wolf Blitzer and Anderson Cooper are free of injecting their personal thoughts into their news segments on CNN.
