Whom Will You Call?

Jesus teaches us to end our prayers with an acknowledgement of qualification.

Written by Reuben Bredenhof | Sunday, June 2, 2024

There’s no need to have any doubt about the God before whom we’ve laid all our petitions and requests. For He won’t fail or delay. But He will answer us. After all, says Jesus, the kingdom is his. He rules over everything; it’s all under his command. He can order anything to be done for us, and it will be done.

Around the house, things usually run pretty well.

The furnace hums along. The vacuum cleaner does its job. But then something breaks down. Whom will you call? Who will be able to fix it well? You ask around. You read some online reviews. You are seeking someone qualified.

The question of qualification is important when it’s time to ask for help. Yet with God in heaven, there is no such concern. For we know how capable God is: He is both willing and able to give us all that is good!

Jesus teaches us to end our prayers with an acknowledgement of qualification. For when we are done praying, we conclude,

Yours is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever.
