Where Is the Lord to You?

“I have set the Lord continually before me. Because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken” (Psalm 16:8)

Written by Bill Elliff | Sunday, June 28, 2026

I have worn eyeglasses since the 8th grade. I put them on as I rise from bed and take them off when I turn out the light at night. I set them “continually before me.” Everything is seen through those lenses, and therefore, everything is clear. The presence-centered man or woman does the same.

David speaks of these who have chosen another god than the God who was his God.

I said to the Lord, “You are my Lord. I have no good besides You.” … The sorrows of those who have bartered for another god will be multiplied. I shall not pour out their drink offerings of blood, nor will I take their names upon my lips. (Psalm 16:4)

David knew that the Lord was the “portion of (his) inheritance” and “the lines have fallen to (him) in pleasant places” (vs. 5-6). But here was the great key, the great difference-maker for his life.
