We are not living in a time of differing political parties or mere political pundits, but we are living in a time of a religious war between the old WASPs and the new Neo-Marxists.  The Church is oblivious to this war and prefers to hide in ecclesiastical caves to avoid confrontation.  Neo-Marxism imputes to Christians a false guilt and without the leadership of the church, her people succumb to doctrines of demons. We have lost the will to fight.  The WASP leadership of our forefathers, I am afraid, is dead! 

In the late 1960s I was a college student, and during the summer of 1969, I served as a church camp counselor. There was one camp speaker that summer who I will never forget.  She was a black female speaking to a group of white high-school campers raised in the Presbyterian Church. She must have been approved by the Presbytery Committee on Camps and Conferences as a speaker. This was the old Southern Presbyterian Church (PCUS).  I was not quite prepared for what she had to say.

I don’t remember much about her, except that she had that Angelia Davis look. Angelia Davis was a registered Communist and a member of the Black Panthers in the 60s.  She did her doctoral studies under Herbert Marcuse, a Marxist professor at NYU. She was what today we might call a Neo-Marxist.

Like Angela Davis, this particular woman was articulate and passionate.  She called us all WASPs, and at the time I did not know what that meant.  She used derogatory language.  I later learned that WASP was a short acronym for White Anglo-Saxon Protestant.

The only “wasps” I knew were the ones that fly around your head in the summer and could sting you badly.  She went on in her speech to declare us all guilty as white people because we had inherited white privilege. She was the early prototype of the modern critical race theory proponent.  She was woke long before the term woke was ever popular.  She could have easily headed up a DEI department at a major university today (at least before Trump).

The term WASP was once used to describe the American culture. Most Americans were white—referring to color.  Most Americans were Anglo-Saxon—a reference to their race which included those mostly of British origin. Most Americans were Protestant which was a reference to their religion. White Anglo Protestants (WASPs) made up the majority of those men who signed the Declaration of Independence and who sat in the Constitutional Convention.

The Declaration of Independence was a declaration intended to promulgate a WASP nation independent of British rule. The blessings of liberty in the Preamble of the Constitution were secured “for us and our posterity.”  Posterity means our children.  The WASPs founded a nation for themselves and their children to enjoy the blessings of liberty and freedom under a law that was reflected in the Protestant Faith. The United States Constitution was written for a people with a common moral and religious heritage. It was never intended to be sufficient for a nation made up of a multiplicity of religions and an immoral people.

In 1790 the United States Congress adopted the Naturalization Act which limited citizenship to “free white men…who were of good character…and had resided within the limits and under the jurisdiction of the United States for a period of two years.”  Good character was defined by the Protestant Faith.

Protestant churches filled the landscape of the early thirteen colonies. They produced leaders dominating the culture for many years.  They led America in education, business, and government.  For the most part, office holders were required to take an oath with their hand on the Bible.  This tradition still exists today, although Muslim and Hindu holy books are now being used.

WASP was a common term, even up into the 1960s in America.  America was a Christian nation – more particularly a Protestant Christian nation. Those of other nations and religions were welcome to America as long as they knew what America was, and as long as they were willing to assimilate into the WASP culture. They were not allowed to hold political office unless they could be identified as a WASP.  This certainly would be an unpopular view today, but popularity does not change the historical facts. Sadly, real history has been deconstructed.

What happened?  Like Esau in the Bible the children of the WASP nation sold their inheritance for a bowl of multiculturalism. Today, America is a wide-open society with no limitations on immigration or religions.  We are a catch-can for every religion and superstition under God’s heavens. As such, we are a nation that is home to a multitude of sects.  We even have Muslims and Hindus serving in the United States Congress.

We have become a multi-cultural society built no longer on the Protestant Faith.  We no longer have a common moral ethic that permeates the landscape of the people. We are a cacophony of everything under the sun.  As Jesus warned, we need to realize that a house divided cannot long endure. Raw power, prosperity, and sectional living spaces now hold us together, but delete any one of these and peace among us will cease to exist. A divided people cannot long survive under a democracy divided over morality and the right of a majority to legislate their own morality.

However, and even more important, there are actually only two religions in the world.  Both of them came out of the Garden of Eden.  One is the Christian religion which recognizes a created hierarchy and biblical distinctions ordained by God himself. Adam and Eve were not God, nor were they equal with God. They were two different sexes and were instructed to get married and start a family.  This was Christianity in its root form.

The other religion gets its name from Karl Marx, but it pre-existed him.  It is based on egalitarianism where all things must be viewed through the lens of an equality quite different than the equality in the Bible. Man is equal with God and all the differences God ordained must be dismantled.  Distinct cultures must be banished.  The family which creates differences in people must be abolished.  The distinction between men and women must be voided. Women are equal with men.  Gays are equal with Straight.  Boys and girls are the same.  Homosexuality is equal with heterosexuality. The rich and poor must be equal.  All are one in the name of egalitarianism. God has no right to create distinctions among us. It is unfair. This is Neo-Marxism. This is what is driving the left wing of the Democratic Party today. It is a religion, and not just political left-wing extremism.

So, rather than a common people with a common religion living in unity as a WASP nation, today we are in the midst of a war between Christianity and Neo-Marxism.  Neo-Marxism has been slowly capturing our civic institutions (including the church) now for decades, but Trump, whether he knows it or not, has been providentially raised up to slow down this descent into Hell.  Through all of this the church sleeps like a baby in a crib, choosing to remain silent on the issues that confront her parishioners every day.
