Where Are You Now? Proper Perspective (Part 3 of 3)

You may have a different plan. But this I know: we don’t have to stay in a dark and painful present.

Written by Pete Hurst | Saturday, May 16, 2026

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths” Proverbs 3:5,6.

When I am in dark and painful present as we have described, here is what I do:

I get the right mindset going forward, a proper perspective.

I apply God’s truth to my current circumstances and then use my God given intellect to move from difficult to better circumstances.

Here is a sample five steps I would use to implement this:

1) I remember basic truths about God and from Him.

For instance, God is sovereign, life doesn’t happen by chance and God has a plan to work things for good for His children (Romans 8:28).

I don’t always know God’s plan, just that He has one (Deuteronomy 29:29).

I remember other things, like God loves me, forgives me of my sins when I come sincerely confessing them (Psalm 32).

I know that He is with me (Joshua 1:9).

I live based on these and other truths.
