For us, sometimes it may be our sin that makes God seem distant, as well. We must confess it to Him, ask for forgiveness, and obey Him. Other times, He may seem distant because we fail to use the means He has given for fellowship with us.
Remember the story of Jonah?
Commissioned by God to go somewhere, he went in the opposite direction.
A fierce storm at sea occurs and he is thrown overboard to calm the sea.
God sends a great fish to swallow him, and from within the fish he cries out to God.
If anyone could feel distant from God, it was Jonah in the belly of a fish.
But God wasn’t distant. Jonah acknowledged his sin, repented and did what God originally told him to do.
