Volunteers Needed Immediately in New York State to work with PCA Disaster Relief

Written by Arklie Hooten | Tuesday, August 30, 2011

Volunteers are needed immediately to serve in Schenectady NY. MNA Disaster Response is working with local church leadership at First Presbyterian Church (PCA) Schenectady. Over 50 homes in their community have been flooded and they have requested assistance in reaching out to their neighbors!

The work will be mucking out and gutting homes. There is no need for chainsaw work. Help is also needed to assist homeowner’s in the recovery and cleaning. This type of work is very hard and dirty…real work!

Lodging is provided at the local Fire Department, but you will need to bring your own bedding. Volunteers will need to come in a ‘self-contained’ state, bringing their own food and water for the duration of their service. Local stores and restaurants are open within a 20 minute drive from the site of service.

If you are available and would like to serve, please register on the website and contact Sherry Lanier, [email protected]

Arklie Hooten is a Ruling Elder in the PCA and serves as Disaster Relief Coordiinator for Mission to North America.
