Vanderbilt University – What should we make of their discriminatory nondiscrimination policy?

Written by Don K. Clements | Thursday, April 26, 2012

Today The Aquila Report is doing something new – but we hope helpful. We are posting all seven of today’s stories (including this one) on more-or-less the same topic – the fuss-up at Vanderbilt University.

Yes, I attended Vandy (class of 1963) and I may be a bit more interested in what happens there. Yet, this issue has taken so many twists and turns, it seems to be worth a closer look.

We begin with a background story, from Focus on the Family, explaining the actions and decisions of the 11 campus ministries that decided to band together to fight the ‘change’ or ‘clarification’ (depending on which side of the issue you happen to be standing) that has taken place.

Then, we follow with a fresh story from World Magazine explaining why the PCA’s Reformed University Fellowship at Vandy, along with the Southern Baptist campus ministry, did NOT join with the evangelical and conservative groups included in ‘Christian Solidarity’.

This is followed by two official statements from Vanderbilt. One is a news release from yesterday; the other a more detailed description of the history and details of the issue from the University’s point of view taken from their website.

We close with a couple of blogs/op-ed pieces to demonstrate the outer ‘edges’ of this story.

When and if we get any details of whether or not the Board of Trustees take any action on this issue (which I believe is highly unlikely) we’ll get back to you.
