Many believers delay simple acts of faithfulness because they assume they must find the perfect role. Scripture points us instead to the nearest opportunity.
We often hesitate to serve because we feel unqualified or unsure of what to do first.
“And he took them the same hour of the night and washed their wounds.”
Acts 16:33 (ESV)
The jailer’s first act after believing is striking in its simplicity. He tends to wounds. He does not preach a sermon or organize a plan. He responds to the need placed directly in front of him.
This moment teaches us that usefulness in the Christian life does not wait for expertise. Love acts as soon as it sees. The hands that had secured chains now bring water and care. Grace has already begun to reshape his instincts.
