Update from the 178th Synod Meeting of the Reformed Presbyterian Church of North America (The Covenanters), taken from the Wall of the denomination’s Facebook Page.

Wednesday, June 23rd
The President of the Board of Trustees of Reformed Presbyterian Theological Seminary, Pittsburgh, RPTS, Elder Rich Holdeman of the Bloomington, Indiana Reformed Presbyterian Church presented the report of the Seminary. The current recession has impacted the seminary’s budget, but the Lord is continuing to bless the seminary in important ways. Of special note is the opening of the Biblical Counseling Institute under the leadership of Dr. George Scipione.
Elder Drew Gordon of the Covenant Fellowship Church in Pittsburgh, who serves as the Editor of the Reformed Presbyterian Witness, reported to synod about various publications, including the sale of over 100,000 Psalters. Also reported was the encouraging sine of more than 3 million+ page views of ReformedVoice.org, the online location of sermons by RPCNA pastors.
President Ken Smith of Geneva College gave an encouraging report this morning on both the joys and challenges of Christian Higher Education! He framed his comments around Psalm 144 and spoke of the ongoing need to train students in technical competence and a robust faithfulness in their service to the Lord.

Pastor John Edgar of Elkins Park, Pennsylvania, reported for the Home Missions Board concerning the many and diverse church planting efforts underway across the denomination. Of special note was the planned Church Planters conference on October 29 – November 2 in North Carolina.
During the report of Committee on Interchurch Relations, the Synod heard greetings from a number of Fraternal Delegates, including:
– Pastor Andrew Quigley, from Airdrie, Scotland , representing t he Reformed Presbyterian Church of Scotland.
– Pastor Kyle Simms, from Lancaster, SC, representing the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church.
– Pastor Steve Miller, from Nashua, New Hampshire, representing the Orthodox Presbyterian Church
