Update on PCA BCO 14 Amendments; A Majority of Presbyteries Have Voted Against Both Amendments as of March 12

The vote of Presbyteries on the BCO 14 amendments as of March12 is
On BCO 14-1: 40-33 against adoption
On BCO 14-2: 42-31 against adoption.

A majority of Presbyteries have now voted against adopting both BCO 14-1 and 14-2.

For the amendments to be have been approved 2/3 of the 79 Presbyteries (53) had to vote in favor. A majority of the Presbyteries have now voted against approving the amendments and they have not been consented to or adopted.

Here are the results of the most recent vote:

On March 12 Iowa Presbytery voted in against:

On 14-1: Yes 11; No 11, Abstain 0
On 14-2: Yes 11; No 11; Abstain 0

Of the 79 Presbyteries 73 have voted, leaving 6 Presbyteries still to vote.

The two amendments to BCO 14-1 and 14-2 would have had the effect of changing the way the Administrative Committee, which includes the Stated Clerk’s office, would be funded. It would also have change the definition of “voting membership” for General Assembly meetings.

  14. Korean Southeastern
  15. Korean Southern
  16. Metro Atlanta
  17. Metro New York
  18. Missouri
  19. Nashville
  20. New Jersey
  21. North Florida
  22. North Texas
  23. Northern California
  24. Northern New England
  25. OhioValley (only on BCO 14-1)*
  26. Pacific
  27. Pacific Northwest
  28. PlatteValley
  29. Potomac
  30. Providence
  31. Southwest Florida
  32. SusquehannaValley
  33. Western Canada

The Presbyteries voting against adopting the BCO 14 amendments include:

*Note: Covenant and Ohio Valley Presbyteries split their votes, voting in favor for BCO 14-1 and against for BCO 14-2.
