My fear and anxiety drove me to Jesus Christ who was my Savior through it all. Our family gave up a big house for a small house but it was full of joy and love. I worked two jobs and God blessed me to learn that I could do well in business. After 18 months, I knew I was still called to be a minister, but I was a changed man.
The well-known successful businessman admitted to suffering burnout every year.
This encouraged me.
Someone else’s tragedy makes us feel a little better, not because we’re glad they suffered, but we realize we have something in common with someone hugely successful.
The time I suffered burnout I had been a minister for eleven years.
It lasted almost two years. It was, to borrow a phrase, the worst of times and the best of times.
Many ministers did not know what to do with me.
Some Christians treated me as though I had abandoned the Christian faith.
Some relatives were embarrassed with me.
