As we eagerly await Christ’s return, Christians must put their faith in our covenant-keeping God; live pure and blameless lives; and teach their children the beauty of God’s creational and gospel design for sexuality and marriage, which are foundational to true human flourishing.

In our present world, decadence is replacing decency. For the sake of personal freedom our culture sanctions a sexual revolution that German sociologist, Gabriele Kuby believes “will quite possibly prove to be the most destructive revolution in history.”  She goes on to state that “the extent to which that satanic system will go for [sexual] freedom…is nowhere better seen than in abortions.” Someone has said: “Abortion is the willingness to kill for the sake of the willingness to copulate.”

There are sobering cultural parallels with our time. From 1918 to 1933 the Weimar Republic ruled Germany. After the defeat of the proud German nation in WW1, many Germans threw caution to the wind, spent big and partied hard, aware that both the economy and the government were destined to fail. This became a time of liberal ideas and new forms of pleasure-seeking. Seizing on the liberality of the time, the cabarets of Berlin, Munich and other cities entertained their gay, lesbian and transvestite patrons with open displays of sexual nudity.

A history of the period describes the social situation in the following way: “Even [ancient] Rome had not known orgies like the Berlin transvestite balls, where hundreds of men in women’s clothes and women in men’s clothes danced under the benevolent eyes of the police. Amid the general collapse of values, a kind of insanity took hold of precisely those middle-class circles which had hitherto been unshakeable in their order.”

This moral collapse was followed by economic collapse, as the government irresponsibly printed so much money that the Reichsmark became worthless. For instance, in 1918 one dozen eggs cost half a Reichsmark; in 1922, three Reichsmarks; in January, 1923, 500 Reichsmarks; in September, 1923, 30 million Reichsmarks and only one month later, in October, 1923, four billion Reichsmarks! The “resolution” of this state of affairs came with the arrival of totalitarian National Socialism in 1933.

If politically or economically we are not at this point (though the national debt has never been greater), we do find ourselves living in a society which affirms that same-sex eroticism, ubiquitous pornography and gender manipulation are valid expressions of human freedom and that to oppose them is an unacceptable expression of bigotry, which must be suppressed. On the one hand, our children are exposed to outright degeneracy, while on the other hand, their Christian faith is being suppressed.

On the one hand–Exposed to Degeneracy:

In the NY public libraries parents bring their small children to hear drag queens read the latest children’s books on sex. In the “Drag Queen Story Hour,” one “queen,” presenting himself as “Lil Miss Hot Mess,” sings: “The hips on the drag queen go swish, swish, swish,” etc. and then goes on to tell them a story entitled “Worm Loves Worm: We Can Both Be Grooms.” Some “progressive” parents approve. One says: “That’s what I’m looking for in all our outings, [which] is to present different ways of being in the world and make that fun and available to my kid…It was great–so much energy!” Unfortunately this expression of sexual freedom introduces the children to false and destructive views of human reality. Fully forty percent of transgender adults report having made at least one suicide attempt.

On the other hand–the Christian faith suppressed:

Seth Clark, 13, was told just hours before graduation that he would not be permitted to deliver his graduation speech at Akin Grade School, in Akin Illinois, because it was too religious. His speech referenced God, quoted from the Bible and mentioned his Christian faith. Superintendent Kelly Clark wrote: “While students are welcome to pray or pursue their faith without disrupting school or infringing upon the rights of others, the United States Constitution prohibits the school district from incorporating such activities as part of school-sponsored events, or when the context causes a captive audience to listen or compels other students to participate.”

Journalist Tucker Carlson recently interviewed Dan Barker, co-president of the Freedom from Religion Foundation (FFRF) which succeeded in shutting down a before-school Bible study group for first- and second-graders. Barker self-righteously announced that

there are families who wish to protect their children from the depravity and the violence that’s in the Bible.

Despite the Supreme Court ruling that protects religious clubs in public schools (The Good News Club v. Milford Central Schools, 2001), the battle for the spiritual health of our children has hardly begun. As Christian freedom is aggressively suppressed, we face a “sexual revolution,” as sociologist Kuby says, “far worse than any I know of.”
