Oftentimes, the Christian walk has been illustrated as a race. In fact, God does so himself in the book of Hebrews. Paul several times called his ministry and life a race. But the encouraging thing is we are not the only ones who have run this race. We have a cloud of witnesses of believers who have run the same course we have. Their lives were difficult, just like ours. They kept striding by faith in the Lord. They trusted, they believed. They believed that the burdens, the aches, the agony, were not worth comparing to the glory that was to be revealed at the end of their race. The prize was worth the pain.
I am so tired…
I can’t take any more.
It hurts too much.
Something has to change or stop…
These are common thoughts. I have had some of them. I have had them in the middle of a run on a humid morning or night. I have had them as my ten-year-old autistic son smacks the side of his face and ear to stim.
It is so difficult. There have been times when I have been drenched in sweat, my heart rate pumping, and my legs feeling like lead. In those moments, I have a decision to make. As someone who just restarted running, I have felt this more often than not. But I remind myself that I cannot control how my body feels. I cannot control the humidity. I cannot control anything but my form and making sure my legs and feet keep turning over. And I do it.
Idk why Jojo has started stimming in this way. But in the last month, he started backhand-smacking his ear/jaw. We thought at first it was an ear infection, but the doctor said his ears looked great. Then we thought it may be a tooth or two coming in. We still do not know. There have been times we have been able to get him to stop, but he keeps reverting to it. Sometimes I just do not know if I can take seeing him smack his face again as it gets redder and redder.
