These maxims are offered here for any help they might be to you.…these are the ones I felt at the time were significant enough in my life and experience to record. Instead of mine, maybe you would like to write your own….My prayer is that they will be an encouragement and benefit to some for the glory of God.
In the summer of 2015 I entered a full time position in business, in real estate sales. For over 40 years I had been a senior pastor in churches. In 2013, I took a part-time position as an associate minister of the church where I had been a minister for the last 28 years, and gave up half my salary so the church could financially call a new minister. I believed the church needed someone new to lead, and I was hoping to eventually transition into real estate full time.
Two years later I decided to be in real estate full time, and being successful in my work was an even greater necessity than I had previously thought, because I had miscalculated the financial obligations I was going to have to meet. We prayed, set goals, worked smart and worked hard and God blessed us that first year with more income than we had ever made in one year since we had been married.
To keep me motivated and on track that year, I decided to write what I called “maxims” to read from time to time. I had often kept motivational quotes, various sayings, and scripture verses to encourage me in the ministry and when I did real estate part-time. I began with three or four maxims, and then a couple of days later I had a couple more, and after a while, a few pages. These maxims were a few words or a sentence long. I would write some explanation for them and scripture verses that reinforced or illustrated what the maxim stated.
