Survey Being Conducted on PCA Solo and Assistant/Associate Pastors in Their First Call

Looking for pastors in their first call for a survey

Written by Staff | Sunday, May 26, 2013

The purpose is to learn about the day-to-day work of these pastors. Each gathering will consist of 9-11 pastors serving in churches between 100-200 members. The time will be spent in a group discussion about some of the unique aspects of solo and assistant/associate pastoral ministry in small churches.

Joel Hathaway, Director of Alumni and Career Services at Covenant Seminary, is conducting a survey and discussion among solo pastors (at one meeting) and assistant/associate pastors (at another meeting) who are in their first call. The purpose is to learn about the day-to-day work of these pastors. Each gathering will consist of 9-11 pastors serving in churches between 100-200 members.

The time will be spent in a group discussion about some of the unique aspects of solo and assistant/associate pastoral ministry in small churches. There will be some diagnostic questions at the beginning of the meeting, followed by a more in depth discussion about the practices of daily ministry.

This cohort gathering will be held at the PCA General Assembly during one of the morning sessions. For those interested in participating in this cohort, complete this brief form: http://bit.ly/16gGdSG.  Pastors from all seminary backgrounds, regions, and ages are welcome. [Editor’s note: the original URL (link) referenced is no longer valid, so the link has been removed.]

The discussion will be recorded for purposes of content evaluation. A summary report will be composed from the conversation and made available to all participants. Responses and names of participants will remain anonymous in the summary report. Any findings will be released to participants first in order to allow for content to be reviewed. Any content deemed uniquely identifiable by participants will be removed at the request of the participants.
