Our youth are exposed daily to pornography and false ideologies regarding sex and sexual sin, gender, and identity. And there are countless hidden heartaches for believers silently burdened by shame, guilt, and isolation.
Our staff travels regularly to exhibit and speak at large national conferences and local churches countrywide. Every week, at least one staff member is either driving or flying to another church to help people and pastors navigate a gospel response to the challenges they’re facing regarding issues of sex and sexual sin.
At these events, many people share their struggles and their deep concerns for loved ones. But you may be surprised that we also hear from pastors, elders, counselors, and leaders seeking wisdom. These are seminary-trained, well-educated, experienced, and godly men and women who know the gospel and have walked with hundreds of individuals and families. And yet, when it comes to matters of sex and sexual sin, they often feel out of their depth. They’re not sure what people need.
Confusion about Sex and Sexual Sin . . . in the Church
This is a great burden on our hearts at Harvest USA because we know how pervasive and destructive sexual sin is—not only in the world but also in the church.
Infidelity tears marriages and families apart. Our youth are exposed daily to pornography and false ideologies regarding sex and sexual sin, gender, and identity. And there are countless hidden heartaches for believers silently burdened by shame, guilt, and isolation. Consider the 30-year-old single woman who only hears about lust being a man’s problem, even though she’s enslaved by pornography. Or the 17-year-old boy who hears about homosexuality as a culture war issue and has given up ever sharing his struggle with same-sex attraction.
