Reynolda EPC in Winston-Salem, NC offers training for more effective church-based ministry to students

Written by EPnews | Sunday, March 28, 2010

These events are open to churches outside the EPC, especially those in close proximity to Winston-Salem. Coordinator, Shawn Stewart, believes that networking among like minded youth ministry leaders is essential for the future of the church.

Reynolda EPC in Winston Salem, North Carolina will host a Mid-Atlantic Student Ministry Training/Equipping Event on April 23-24.

In an effort to help our EPC churches be more effective in missional ministry, the Student Ministries Committee is partnering with the Mid-Atlantic Presbytery for a training and equipping event for youth workers (volunteer, part-time, and full-time).

This event will include something for everyone involved in ministry to students. The event will be held in conjunction with the meeting of the Mid-Atlantic Presbytery so that youth workers may travel with others, and so that ordained youth workers can participate in the business of Presbytery.

Ruling and Teaching Elders and Observers coming to the Presbytery will also benefit from the resources available to everyone.

The event will open at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 23 with two sessions focused on Ministry to Students and their Sexual Integrity. This will be followed with question and answer time, sharing of upcoming events and gathering for worship and communion with Presbytery.

On Saturday morning, a variety of workshops will be offered including Youth Ministry from Scratch (How to start or revive a missionally focused youth ministry in your church) and Building a Bigger Volunteer Base (successful ideas for building a team approach to student ministry that builds a long-term volunteer leadership core.) These workshops will deal with the “nuts and bolts” of youth ministry.

This is an essential event for your church. The event will end with the close of the Presbytery meeting.

Financial resources are available to help EPC youth workers with the cost of travel and lodging. Contact Shawn Stewart by email ([email protected]) or phone (828-669-7577) to sign-up, request more information, or request financial aid.

If your church or presbytery might be interested in hosting a similar event, the Student Ministries Committee would like to help make it happen. Contact Brandon Bates, Student Ministries Committee Chairman, to discuss the possibilities. Brandon can be reached by email at [email protected].
