Steven Vanderhill, President of Redeemer, commented on the seminary being granted accreditation, “We are glad to receive the recognition of ATS that Redeemer Theological Seminary has demonstrated our program meets accreditation standards, but most important to us is our faithfulness to our institutional mission which is to be a learning community dedicated to supporting the church in preparing disciples of Jesus Christ for ordained and non-ordained gospel ministry, through study of his Word, formation into his likeness, and training in his church’s mission to the world, all to the glory of God.”
Redeemer Theological Seminary in Dallas, Texas has been granted initial accreditation by the Association of Theological Schools (ATS). The accreditation is for seven years. Redeemer Seminary was founded in 1999 as a branch campus of Westminster Theological Seminary in Philadelphia. In 2009 it was released to be an independent seminary and took the name Redeemer.
“While accreditation permits us to participate in federal student financial aid programs, we do not want our students to mortgage their ministry, so Redeemer will not participate in the federal student loan programs. We seek to keep seminary affordable through offering scholarship aid to all students. Student paid tuition covers only a fraction of the cost of education, and Redeemer’s financial supporters are making a kingdom investment in the preparation of future pastors, church planters, campus ministers, missionaries and kingdom servants.”
Redeemer offers master’s degrees at its Dallas and Austin campuses, and offers courses in Houston.
The faculty of Redeemer includes D. Clair Davis, Carl Ellis, Sinclair Ferguson, Douglas Gropp, Dan McCartney, Michael Rasmussen, Joseph “Skip” Ryan, Adrian Smith, Paul Tripp, and Steven Vanderhill. Redeemer’s enrollment is approximately 150 students.
