Kathy Blair was a member of Redeemer Presbyterian Church (PCA) and was active in its choir. She ran the Christian Choral Society of Austin, which is a high-level music program for home-school students. She taught 250- to 300 students a year, ages 4 to 18 years old.
Police have identified the woman found dead in her Northwest Austin home Saturday as 53-year-old Kathy Blair, a longtime choir director.
Investigators concluded Saturday night that Blair was killed. A police spokeswoman said Saturday that they have not made any arrests, but do not believe there is a threat to the public.
“It wasn’t a stranger,” Surei Scanlon said at a Saturday news conference near the home on the 4600 block of Tamarack Trail, tucked away in a neighborhood just northwest of the intersection of Parmer Lane and MoPac (Loop 1) Boulevard.

Police were called to the home at 12:12 p.m., and said a relative had discovered Blair’s body. As police taped off the home and street, neighbors said they saw a man in his 20s nervously pacing the street in front of Blair’s home with blood on his pants.
