All of the members of the executive committee are corresponding members to the assembly, meaning that they have official seats in assembly’s plenary and may speak to the GA commissioners on behalf of the GAMC if the need arises.
The General Assembly Mission Council will send 287 employees and elected council members to the 220th General Assembly meeting this summer in Pittsburgh, Pa. Linda Valentine, executive director of the GAMC said that the number was “in keeping with what we have done in the past.”
The communications and funds development area will send 30 representatives to the assembly, most of who will work in support positions.
The executive administrator/administrative areas will send 42 people, mainly to help in the assembly committees; or be corresponding members.
In the area of missions, 207 people will work at the assembly. The numbers break down between the ministry areas include:
- Compassion, Peace and Justice 64
- Racial Ethnic and Women’s Ministries/PW 54
- Evangelism and Church Growth 22
- Theology, Worship and Education 20
- Deputy Executive Director’s Office 17
- World Mission 12
- Mission Personnel to be commissioned 9
- Mission Personnel retirees (20+years) 9
The area of shared services will send eight personnel.
Of the 287 personnel attending the assembly, 40 are attending an award ceremony or event; 67 are categorized as GA support; 51 will work in the exhibit hall; 18 are labeled corresponding members and 111 will work in the GA committees.
