PCA Teaching Elder “Jack” Jagoditsch dies after long battle with cancer

The Senior Pastor at Lakemont Presbyterian Church (PCA) in Augusta, Georgia since 1986, John Charles Jagoditsch, Jr. (known as “Jack”) died on October 17, 2011 after a long battle with at the age of 64.

Jack grew up in Memphis and attended college at Lambeth College in Jackson, Tennessee. He then went on staff with Young Life and served as an area director in both Jackson, MS and Nashville, TN for ten years before answering a call to the ministry. He attended Reformed Theological Seminary in Jackson where he received an MDiv in 1981.

He was ordained in the PCA’s Central Florida Presbytery in 1982 where he served as Assistant Pastor at Covenant PCA Winter Haven for two years, followed by several years at Grace PCA in Ocala, FL. He became Pastor at Lakemont in 1986 and remained there for the rest of his ministry.

This is the second death of relatively young pastors at Lakemont in the past year. Walt Kendall, a longtime Associate with Jagoditsch who had moved on to Sumter, SC died last September.

Surviving are Jack’s wife of 41 years, Frances Cronister Jagoditsch, originally of Jackson, Tennessee; two daughters Jennifer Montgomery (Clayton) and Bethany Wilks (Nathanael); one son: Jonathan Jagoditsch and two grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, October 20, 2011 at 3:00PM at First Presbyterian Church of Augusta with Rev. Lee Lovett and Rev. Noah Kiser officiating.
