Dr. Brad Christie, Vice President of Erskine College/Seminary made the following announcement on Friday afternoon, October 12:
It is my pleasure to announce the appointment of Dr. James A. (Jim) Meek as Dean of Erskine Theological Seminary. Dr. Meek comes to us most recently from Lock Haven University, where he served as Assistant to the President for Planning and Assessment. Before moving to Lock Haven, Jim served as Dean of Academic Administration at Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis, MO.
In addition to assuming academic/administrative responsibilities at the seminary, Jim will also teach Greek and New Testament courses. His Bible Overview book is already a staple text in some of our seminary courses. Jim will be moving to the area within the next couple of weeks and begins work at the seminary on October 29. Please join me in welcoming Dr. Meek to the Erskine family.

James Allison Meet was born in Birmingham, AL on Jul 27, 1950. He has 3 grown daughters: Allison Starr Meek, Anastasia Elizabeth (Smith), and Stephanie Judith. He received a BA from Rice University in 1972. He received an MDiv (1976) and ThM (1981) from Westminster Seminary Philadelphia. He received a PhD from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis in 2005. His dissertation title was “The Gentile Mission in Old Testament Citations in Acts: Text, Hermeneutic, and Purpose.”
He was licensed by Philadelphia Presbytery of the RPCES in Jan, 1976. He was ordained as an evangelist (church planter) by Louisiana Presbytery of the PCA in Oct 81 and served as pastor of the Covenant Church (PCA) in Lafayette, LA from 1983 to 1990.
He joined the faculty at Covenant Seminary in 1990 and served in the following positions: Associate Dean of Academics 1990-95; Assistant Professor of New Testament 1995-2003; Dean of Academic Administration 1995-1998; Dean of Admissions 1990-00; Associate Dean of Academics 2000-2003. Without call from 2003 to 2006 while serving as a consultant to postsecondary institutions on assessment and curriculum in St. Louis, Mo. In 2006 he became the Assistant to the President for Planning and Assessment of Loch Haven University (a public university in the State College of Pennsylvania system, located near Williamsport, PA). He is currently a member of Susquehanna Valley Presbytery.
