Mission to North America (MNA) is charged with coordinating Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) disaster response in the US and Canada. This vital mission is accomplished through disaster preparedness awareness & training in advance of disaster events and by providing support in response to disaster events.

Preparedness training is conducted regularly through local and PCA-wide events. MNA Disaster Response provides support to PCA churches in disaster affected communities through a network of staff and volunteer damage assessment teams, first response teams, site managers, and key leaders. MNA recruits and mobilizes volunteers, receives and distributes supplies and equipment, brings awareness of specific needs, channels recovery funds, focuses prayer and provides spiritual encouragement to our PCA family and their communities.

In keeping with the fulfillment of this mission, MNA Disaster Response will award a new disaster response first responder team equipment trailer to a PCA church, mission church, RUF Campus Ministry, or presbytery at the 40th PCA General Assembly in Louisville KY this summer. The purpose in the provision of this trailer is to increase the grassroots network of first responders.

Proposals must be submitted to MNA Disaster Response Facilitator Sherry Lanier by email to [email protected] or by mail to Sherry Lanier, 130 Woodgate Drive, Brandon, MS 39042. Entries must be postmarked by May 1.

A commission consisting of MNA Disaster Response staff, experienced first responders and key leaders will evaluate all properly submitted proposals and award the trailer to the team submitting the best proposal. The winner will be announced at the 2012 PCA General Assembly during the MNA Ministry Luncheon.
