One year ago, prior to the PCA action at the 2012 General Assembly which passed an amendment to the Book of Church Order to clarify that the denomination standards do NOT permit the ‘Intinction’ form of administration of the Lord’s Supper, Heartland Presbytery appointed a six man committee to study the issue for the Presbytery.
On November 3rd, the committee reported to the Presbytery. At the meeting it was decided to postpone the vote on the recommendations (a majority and a minority report were presented) until the March, 2013 meeting to give the members of the Presbytery time to carefully study the reports. The vote within the committee was 3 in favor of the majority report to not allow intinction, 2 in favor of the minority report, and 1 abstention.
The original version of this article had contained the actual reports, but an official of the Presbytery asked that we remove the report, based on the following provision in the Presbytery’s Standing Rules:
2.8 Distribution of minutes. The official minutes of Heartland Presbytery are not published. Unofficial copies of the minutes are circulated to members of and delegates to presbytery for the convenience of presbytery under terms of S.R. 4.3, F. Copies are sent to General Assembly for review in compliance with BCO 13-12 and 40-1, and RAO 14. This is not an act of publishing which makes them a public document. All rights are retained by presbytery. Further dissemination is not authorized, except for legitimate presbytery purposes such as providing each member of a session with a copy. [Amended 8/16/96 #96-36]
