PCA General Assembly Luncheon: Navigating The New Health Care Reform Market AND Volatile Markets of 2010

Written by Harry Cooksey | Wednesday, June 9, 2010

Attendees at the PCA General Assembly this year are invited to a very special, and very free, lunch sponsored by the Retirement Benefits Board of the PCA

The luncheon will be on Wednesday, June 30, 2010, 12:00 noon – 1:30 pm. It will be held in the Nashville Convention Center in Room 206. No advance reservations will be taken, so it is literally first come, first served. There are only 200 seats in the room so commissioners are advised to arrive early.

The Featured Speakers are Charles M. (Chip) Watkins, J.D., and Gary D. Campbell, CFA

Mr. Watkins will provide an overview of the new health care reform law recently approved by Congress, and will discuss the implications of this legislation for you and our PCA churches.

Mr. Campbell will briefly review the financial market environment over the past 12 months and will comment on longer term trends potentially impacting the financial market’s future

Brief biographical descriptions of each speaker are as follows:

Charles M. (Chip) Watkins, J.D., is an Attorney with Webster, Chamberlain & Bean, LLP and is a Ruling Elder at McLean Presbyterian Church in McLean, Virginia. Chip counsels and represents a wide variety of associations and organizations, including churches and church-related organizations, on income and employment tax, employee benefits, qualified and section 403(b) retirement plans, and other legal and regulatory matters. Mr. Watkins frequently speaks, writes and teaches seminars on issues of interest to tax-exempt organizations.

Gary D. Campbell, CFA is the President of PCA Retirement & Benefits, Inc. As such, Gary is responsible for its overall management and service to the Presbyterian Church in America. Prior to joining RBI in August of 2006, Gary had retired as President and Chief Investment Officer of Kennedy Capital Management, Inc., an institutional investment manager of small- and mid-cap equity securities.
