With only two Presbyteries left to vote or report, PCA Presbyteries have overwhelmingly expressed their opposition to the BCO 14 amendments. As of May 10, and heading into the General Assembly meeting of June 7-10, the vote of Presbyteries is as follows:
On BCO 14-1: 43-34 against adoption
On BCO 14-2: 45-32 against adoption
For the amendments to be have been approved 2/3 of the 79 Presbyteries (53) had to vote in favor. A majority of the Presbyteries have now voted against approving the amendments and they have not been adopted.
Here are the results of the 76th and 77th Presbyteries to vote:
On April 30 Ascension Presbytery voted against:
On 14-1: Yes 7; No 19, Abstain 7
On 14-2: Yes 4; No 17; Abstain 11
On May 10 Northern Illinois Presbytery voted against:
On 14-1: Yes 5; No 14, Abstain 1
On 14-2: Yes 1; No 15; Abstain 4
The two amendments to BCO 14-1 and 14-2 would have had the effect of changing the way the Administrative Committee, which includes the Stated Clerk’s office, would be funded. It would also have change the definition of “voting membership” for General Assembly meetings.
