OPC Minister, Dan Knox, has suffered a serious stroke and is in Intensive Care

Written by Staff | Saturday, October 30, 2010

George Cottenden, Stated Clerk of the OPC General Assembly, put out an email at about noon on Saturday with information about Pastor Knox‘s condition

Fathers and Brothers:

We have received news that Pastor Dan Knox, of Grace OPC, Sewickley, PA, has had a very serious stroke. At present he is in the ICU of Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. It was reported that the stoke occurred while Dan was asleep so the critical first hour medical procedures could not be given. There is some paralysis and his condition is very serious. Please keep this dear brother before the Lord in your prayers.

Dan has been in the OPC since 1981, since he withdrew with a handful of members from a UPCUSA congregation and formed a mission OPC church. The group came under the oversight of the Grace OPC in Sewickly and Dan was set ordained as an Evangelist. He worked in that capacity in Oakdale until 1987 and then helped organize a congregation in Washington, PA and served there until 1997.

In 1998, the long-time pastor of Grace Church, Charles Dennison, contracted cancer and the congregation called Dan to serve as an Associate. Upon Pastor Dennison’s death, Dan was called to serve as the pastor of Grace Church where he continues yet today.

The Aquila Report will update his health status as more news is received.
