New Erskine President to Speak at First Presbyterian, Columbia on Sunday, July 4

Written by Don K. Clements | Saturday, July 3, 2010

On his fourth official day in office, Dr. David A Norman, new President of Erskine College and Seminary, will be the featured speaker in the Thornwell Memorial Lecture Series at the historic First Presbyterian Church of Columbia, SC.

The Thornwell Memorial Lecture Series, a regular feature each summer at FPC, Columbia, is featuring reports from church planters during 2010. However, when the schedule was released earlier this year, the speaker for July 4 was not announced. Now we know why.

The church, one of the largest in the Associate Reformed Presbyterian denomination, is giving this slot to the new President of the ARP college and seminary.

The event will begin at 10:00AM and will take place at the Family Life Center Building. This building has access from Washington Street between Bull and Marion through the parking lots.

Norman will focus on his views of the future of the schools. This will be his first, official public address since beginning his term in office.

“I hope it will be an educational and enlightening experience for those who attend. It is also my hope that people will get to know me better through this process and become as excited as I am about the future of Erskine.”

(Editor’s Note: Since we are recovering from the week-long PCA General Assembly, no one from The Aquila Report staff will be able to cover this event. We would be very interested in receiving reports from any of our readers who attend. Send them to [email protected]. Thanks!)
